Having seen the first episode of Diamond Daydreams on the Newtype USA
cover disk I decided to buy the first disk. It's a series of short
stories rather than one long story, but none the worse for that. These
are stories about fairly ordinary people going about their ordinary lives,
there's not a giant mech, magical girl or evil overlord anywhere to be
seen, but this can be good thing sometimes. ^_^ The first two stories
which are on the first disk are really well told have some very good
characters in them. I'll certainly be buying the rest of the series.

The extras on the disk were quite good too. They include some interesting
information about Hokkiado where the stories take place.

But back to that cover disk...

Also on it was an episode of the Fuccons, is this series someone's idea of
a joke?
It's nothing more than a montage of still shots of plastic models, and
very cheap looking plastic models at that.

Yes. That ol' Japanese sense of humour.

Yes. It has them rolling in the aisles in Osaka.

Of which I am at present learning ever more from liner notes.

This should be interesting: a montage of stills of cheap plastic
models being rolled around in the aisles of Osaka...

More importantly, still shots of plastic models of *Americans*,
and therefore funnier to the Japanese than an explosion in a nitrous
oxide factory.

Ah!

If the Japanese dialogue is anything like the dubbed dialogue they'll be
rolling in agony not the aisles. ^_^

Liner notes are an amazing source of knowledge, I wish more companies
would include them.

Well it would bring some action to the series. ^_^

I don't know what ADV were thinking when they licensed the Fuccons.
There's another episode on this month's Newtype USA disk, but having had
the misfortune of watching episode one last month I didn't bother watching
it.

They've been known to do one or two odd things in the past, e.g. "The
Super Milk-chan Show". A nice enough original series, but why try and
turn it into something like The Larry Sanders Show?
