Me neither but we watched in some fascination as a German couple set up
camp next to us on a small site just outside Shaftsbury a couple of years
ago. They got out the portable satellite receiver and a laptop and settled
down to watch TV while they ate their dinner.

I can't think of Tchibo without thinking of the Big Brother Award "we"
gave them in 2004 because they were selling their customers' data while
giving the opposite impression on their website:

http://www.bigbrotherawards.de/2004/.com

[Not one of our best translations, I was living in Berlin at the time
and very busy at work. I don't know which of our translators "did it"
and how much QA time was spend on it.]

So I wouldn't suggest ordering from Tchibo online (although I don't know
if they changed their practices), but a German blog says that the net
radio sold by Tchibo is the DNT IPdio, RealAudio supported, WPA2 for
WLAN protection too, and generally gives it good reviews. Sorry I can't
translate right now, I have to go ...

Thanks, I'm now the proud possessor of said machine, bought in person
from the shop. It works very nicely, with decent sound, except that
the signal in my kitchen seems to be too weak for it. I'll have to
boost the signal somehow. My original internet radio had a socket for
the LAN-through-the-wiring, which would have been ideal, but this
doesn't.

Hmm, I've been on their emailing list for a couple of years now and, quite
suddenly in the last few days, I've been deluged with German spam (for the
first time ever). I wonder if the two things are related...

I'd be inclined to say they should be more intelligent than that and
spammers should not be buying address data from AZ Direct, but you never
know ...

Congratulations :-) Enjoy :-) Looking around, it seems to me as if the
DNT IPdio is the Logik IR100 by another name. In which case, I suggest
you go into "configure" and do a version check and a firmware upgrade.
That certainly improved things for me. www.reciva.com
(community>internet radios>search) is your friend for any advice and
explanations. Or call or mail me :-)

I won't tell you what IRTA,

I visited a friend in his (sort of) allotment in Germany once and
noticed that his neighbour had brought his television with him and
connected it up to what appeared to be a car battery. You wonder why
people don't stay at home.

Talking of spam, I've noticed recently that more and more innocent
addresses, including one of mine, are being flagged in Mailwasher as
blacklisted either by SpamCop or by a Japanese agency whose name
currently escapes me. As I'm sure it's impossible to get oneself off
these lists, and if one did it would probably only be days before one
was back on them, it seems to me the whole system will break down
before long.

There are those (of the male persuasion) who would have you believe that
the whole point of an allotment is to get away from the wife and home.
