That's not a first for Dr Who. The very first story, 100 000 BC,
ended with them leaving the distant past and landing on Skaro, ready
for the second story, the seven-part "The Daleks".

See http://www.drwhoguide.com for further info.

And, err . . . I was asleep while it was on, so I've no idea whether
I like it or not.

Yes, McGann's Tardis had a really fantastic Jules Verne feel to it. I'm
really unsure of the new interior with those organic-looking pillars and
struts, it looks like it needs a bit of a wash too! I don't think the
new console is too bad though.

Oh, and having metal grates on the floor earns it Industrial Points[1],
too.

What gets me is that, looking at the doors from the inside, you can see
a bloomin' great big gap between them! How on Earth can /that/ hold
back the Mongol hordes, I ask. ;o)

[1] Like Goth Points. Er, except Industrial. Yes.

Its hardly the same as about 5 seconds of skaro with the caption 'Next
Episode The Dead Planet' to showing 20 seconds of the best bits of the next
episode!

I was suitably impressed. Eccleston was excellent, despite my earlier
misgivings. I've heard there's going to be a three-parter with the Daleks.
I didn't like the TARDIS interior, but at least they kept close to the
original sound (and theme tune).

I'll be watching the rest of the series - at long last there's something
decent to watch on a Saturday night.
