My husband has an iPod Nano and I want to buy him the Nike sport kit
for his birthday next week. He runs in Saucony shoes, so he will need a shoe pouch for the shoe sensor (buying Nike shoes is not an option). Does anyone have experience of using a shoe pouch? He runs mainly off-road which means (given the current weather) that the armband and shoe pouch need to be waterproof and, in the case of the shoe pouch, mud-proof too ;-) Can anyone give me any recommendations on wrist/armbands and shoe pouches that work and are waterproof? Thanks. |

I fiound this info site, Liz:
http://podophile.com/2006/12/02/nike-ipod-faq/ You may want to google search as there are some concerning reviews over its reliability to accurately measure distance. However, they appear balance by an equal number of positive recommendations. http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObje...99-0-1014015-1 Scroll down for customer reviews. |

Liz;
I use a Grantwood Shoe Pouch on my Brooks shoes http://www.shoepouch.com/. I bought it on-line in the UK from [url down]. Your husband will probably need to calibrate the sensor for running and walking, once he has fixed it to the shoe. I understand that the Nike+ sensor is reasonably waterproof. I suspect that most arm and wrist bands for an iPod Nano and Nike+ will need to be cut to accommodate the Nike+ unit plugged into the docking slot of the Nano. I use a polycarbonate case (with lanyard wound around my wrist) so that I can hold the Nano in my hand. Although the iPod earphones are reasonably good for hearing noise around you, I find that they constantly fall out. So I use it without them. Liz wrote: [..] |

Thanks for the help guys. I opted for the Marware wrist strap (it
takes the Nike+ unit) and the Grantwood shoe pouch. Actually, the Marware also has a vecro-ed pouch, but the Grantwood one works better as it's more securely fastened. Hubby now has a pouch on each set of shoes (trail and road). He likes his gadgets so the Nike+ gets him out running - getting ecouragement from Paula Radcliffe and Lance Armstrong is a bonus :-) |
