Apologies for being a bit OT - but I am sure the knowledge is here!

People are now trying to sell O2 is small cans such as
(http://www.paramountzone.com/pureoxygen.htm) with 8 lts of O2 costing
£11.95

Now I am sure, people here could come up with a cheaper setup (dont get
ideas of selling ur o2 in little cans!!)

As the user would be concious - a demand valve would be ok (and save gas)

What would the cheapest setup be? with the easiest way to get gas? (would
you require nitrox card to get pure o2?) Pony with reg? or setup with
welding 02 (already discussed)

<SNIP>

Where do they get the :

"Just three hundred years ago, the density of oxygen in the environment
on earth was 30 percent. Today it is 19-20 percent. "

OOps guys if we're using a 21% mix it's enriched!

Boll**ks...

Density?

Air density: (At sea level STP- 1.21Kg/Cm(cubed))

Oxygen: 1.43 Kg/Cm(cubed)

Can't see a 30% ratio there anywhere?

Any ideas anyone?

Trading Standards Phone Number?

You can buy diving (ie: breathing) grade O2 from
Air Products, British Oxygen and others with just
the usual stuff to set up a trade account. It's
about 25 quid for a 45 Litre J at 200 bar. Add
cylinder rental and delivery on top. That's at
least 9000 litres.

You have to admit the mark up is even more
impressive than the hype.

I use to work in a hospital and tried O2 quite often for all sorts of
illnesses - especially hangovers!

Never seemed to make any real difference - I can see that in muggy london a
shot of clear, cool 'fresh' air could help, but honestly - a bit of a con
IMO!

There are studies showing O2 concentrations in the air using ice cores from
glaciers and polar caps, but I doubt they looked at these studies.... Stick
to a couple os asprin and a pint of water!

Can you just ring them up and say it's for diving? Or just ask for
medical-grade breathing oxygen? ie. Do they run a mile if you mention
scuba?

I'm not sure what the question is. My AP rental
tanks have "Diving Quality" painted on the side
which is breathing without the extra dryness
needed for "Aviation Quality". You mention
'scuba' and they think 'customer'.

Maybe it depends on the level of hangover - I've found that O2 or
Nitrox help with the muggy feeling that's not quiet a hangover

Would you need a nitrox card to get a fill from a dive shop? or would it no
apply to 100% 02 - i.e non diving use?

I take it you do realise that there are many situations where a
casulty would not be able to breathe from a scuba regulator.
