It's been alleged, with some degree of accuracy, that exploratory gas/oil drilling triggered it off. presumably, eventually, it'll stop of its own accord and I found one site which claims they're trying to drill down to the source and inject concrete to block it. Not sure that's not just going to make another mud-vent. googling for suitable search terms will bring up several news reports from 2006 when it started. |
