A good effort by the USA, some bowlers are needed though, and the batting
is a mix of pure textbook from the younger players and impro from the older. Average age 35 and 3 fortytwo year olds, and NZ 43 for 3......... some stats. On score comparison you would have to say they were skittled, but scoring 100+ odds (I can't remember their total now) against NZ is good. I think the #11 hit Oram for six on his first ball, out on the next trying it on again. I thought the usa supporters were cool if not odd looking, high fives and stuff. max.it |

As for US v AUS, did anyone else find it slightly unfair - to the spectators and the Americans - that they won the toss and bowled first? The match was all over in 31.5 overs. |

If the Aus v NZ match gets washed out, net run rate against the USA will decide who goes through. Batting second made it much easier to beat NZ's NRR. |

I read the cricinfo / Ponting piece. If Ponting is whining about USA and how easy it was to beat them, and blagging about nnr, he should remember that the very tactic he is blagging about is the reason USA are there, and I'll bet 0.diddly squat % run rate would do Ponting nicely on a rainy finals day. On a wordy techie point, USA, Aus and Sri Lanka are the only champions there. max.it [..] |

In today's match, SL need to reach their target of 192 within 28 overs to beat England's NRR. However, all matches can run into a second day, so, with a bit of luck, NRR won't be needed. |
