Looked at the Met Office charts at work this morning and they appear to
suggest the possibility of some persistent snow at the back end of the
low, as north-easterlies accompanied by a cold and occluded front move
only slowly southeastwards. Any comments?

John Kettley, on Radio 5Live has just mentioned a "sting in the tail"
to this cold spell that will last "until the end of the weekend".
Seems to me that they just don't know.
It's been so long since we had a weather pattern like this that the
Met Office and others are having real problems coping...

Looking at the UKMO Fax progs this morning, it seems this Low will hang
around for 24hours across the South/Channel Tu/We. Could be interesting if
enough cold air is brought in behind it..another mid-week near freezing rain
scenario.followed by 24hrs of NE'lys which could be extended.Phil
