Hi all from a newbie to these things.

I just acquired a P900 (on O2, nework unlocked) and since we often go
to Italy and I have an Italian PAYG SIM (WIND bought on Italian eBay)
I have a couple of questions:

1. will SMS work and what settings do I need to put in for Italian
networks (or is the SMS centre number set in the SIM and the phone
will know to use it)?

2. The same with GPRS, although getting SMS to work is a higher
priority.

Any help would be very useful.

Best wishes,

V.

The details will be read fom the SIM card.

GPRS settings are stored on the phone. Visit www.sonyericsson.com and use
the online configurators to get the settings before your trip.

Thanks for this. So I can just load the GPRS settings off the SE
website before I leave (for say WIND prepaid as they call it on the SE
site) and then load O2 postpaid on return? Hoping it will be working
again? :-)

They have a number of settings there, the meaning of which I do not
quite get:
WAP configurator
Email configurator
MMS configurator

What's what, if you are so kind ... ?

Do I just run all? Won't it botch the O2 settings I have in the phone,
which sort of works at the moment, being only mine since Thursday ...

I know you can't promise me anything, but I know also that the
Customer Serice on O2 is not that good.

The phone can store hundreds of setting simultaneously, there is no need to
keep re-loading them. You juts go into control panel and change the default
Data account from "O" GPRS WAP" to "WIND GPRS WAP" or whatevery they are
called.

Well, er, WAP is for setting up WAP access, Email is for configuring the
phones email client and MMS is for setting up Photo Messaging.

No, you'll be fine. The phone can handle many different settings at once.
Do em all!
