Today's tabloid du jour published a table of deposits versus loans for
the big five uk banks. Only HSBC show positive. Banks can't lend money
they don't have, so to someone with a small half-braincell like me,
surely they want to attract savers and discourage new loans. Then the
government chops interest rates and my half-braincell explodes.
