And sticks the knife in by telling Gordon Brown to go .
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8083585.stm

"James Purnell has become the third cabinet minister to resign as
pressure grows on Gordon Brown's leadership of the Labour Party.

The work and pensions secretary said in a letter to the Sun and Times
he was stepping down to trigger a debate.

The home secretary and communities secretary had already announced
they were standing down from cabinet.

Mr Brown is set to reshuffle his cabinet as he fights to survive as
prime minister. "

My God, they're tearing themselves apart live on Sky News. Endless MPs
on the phone slagging each other off.

The Civil Service of course, as always. Have you never seen Yes, Minister?

No more. The Civil Service has been politicised by bringing in so-called
Special Advisers, commonly known as spads. See, for instance,
http://www.civilservant.org.uk/spads.shtml

Yes, Minister harks back to the golden age of the career civil servant
which was on its way out under Thatcher and killed off by Blair.

The letter to Gordon goes like this:

Dear Gordon,

I am such a brave man that I do don't want to be in cabinet - I hate your
guts. But whilst I want you to quit, I don't want to face a by-election
myself because I know I will lose, and I won't be able to make any more
claims on expenses. But you Gordon should still go.

I've seen Purnell reasonably close up and he seems like a grovelling
little shit with a slight hint of petulance about him and irony of
ironies,
he was abusing his expenses, thought nothing of it and yet more or
less
kept banging on about people shouldn't get something for nothing.

Grovellers are invariably cowards of course....

Flint thinks Brown treated her as "female window dressing".
This was the stupid tart who had her papers the wrong way round
and the press found out details they weren't supposed to.

And who swore undying loyalty to the PM on Thursday, only to kick him in the
balls on Friday.

Of course the remnants of the cabinet are still swearing undying loyalty to the
PM....till tomorrow?

Flint is the one who's complaining about Brown's sexist behaviour and
treating women MPs as 'window dressing'. Meanwhile, she appears at some point
to have commissioned(*) some photographs of her all glammed up. Hmm. I sense
some sort of pot <-> kettle dialogue going on here.

(*) on expenses, presumably?

Is this anything to do with Amsterdam working girls window undressing?

I was trying to work out who Purnell looks a little like.
I think I've found it:
