Apparently. No doubt we'll all wake up in the morning and discover
there's been a coup and all our posessions have been confiscated by
the state. If they were going to do it, the time when all the middle-
aged luvvies who create our news are re-living their best years^H^H^H^Hweeks
would be the easiest time.

Jackson, Wimbledon, Glastonbury. From what I've seen of it, that's
all the Beeb (and pretty much any news channel) has shown today.

(I've just, mentally, come up with my top-20 list of dead muso's. MJ made
it somewhere into the lowest third. Certainly nowhere near the aristocacy:
Lennon, Hendrix, Elvis, Sinatra even)

A far bigger loss this year was Hugh Hopper from Soft Machine, who died a
couple of weeks ago.:-(

Michael Jackson is recent. Those are ancient. I've only heard two
Sinatra songs. Can't remember anything by Hendrix

If you go back so many decades, you might as well go back centuries.

I looked on Yahoo news and 7 of the highlighted 8 articles were about

No. MJs music was contemporaneous with those named (though he
was only a child, singing with the J5) Most of the stuff that
he was famous for was released 25 or more years ago. Thriller came
out in the early 80's

I quite enjoyed this - I had forgotten that Shameless was on last January - time flies etc. Funny that some of them thought the Passion of Christ helped Bush win the election...
