I recently got myself one of these -
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30621

It's so very nearly good kit... but not quite. The size and shape is
fine, the armature to plug into my car lighter socket is just about
right, and the FM signal from it is strong and clear.

But there's a horribly cheap amp in there somewhere, and whenever
playing popular beat combo type music with any compression or loudness
involved, the bassline fuzzes out the rest in an annoying fashion.

Has anyone seen a physically similar device with decent sound quality?
I'm not expecting miracles, but normal FM quality isn't miraculous!

The usefulness of the device is enough that I'm willing to spend
actual money, rather than DealExtreme.com hardly-any-money levels.

This particular device is perfectly serviceable for listening to voice
recordings and most orchestral. It's just rubbish for some rock or pop
songs.

Simplest solution: stick to Mozart.

Oh, I'd forgotten - the confutatis from Requiem fuzzes a bit too. Not
badly, but you know when you've been over-sensitised and it sticks
out? (*) Most annoying.
