Dear All

Yet again BT tries to shorten the life of a "customer" by providing a
Kafka-like "solution".

I got a reminder that payment of one of my phone bills is overdue. Can't tell
which of three phones it is (mine, M's, or the house-line), so I need to call
BT.

When I finally got through to a human she told me that I must have set up
on-line billing, and that I had a email to tell me my bill is ready. No I
didn't. What email address have I used? I can't tell you, she said.

How can I find out what email address I used? Go to the www.bt.com site.

BUT - it needs an email address to log in with.

Arrrrrgh!

OK, what is the simplest (doesn't have to be the cheapest) way to have a line
with BT? I don't want anything else, just a line. I'll use an alternative
carrier (1899) for ALL my calls.

Or is there a better company to go to for a 'phone line - I need to keep the
number - it's my business line, and it needs to be reliable - it's my
business line.

TIA

For my 9-5 we use The Phone Co-op. Cheaper rentals than BT, and a few
guys (and girls) in Oxford who know what the hell they are talking
about. You can keep all your numbers, and I think you can still use 1899
for your calls, these are cheap anyway, sure if you'll ask you'll get a
straight honest answer if you can/can't.

We've moved our paired ISDNs, RedCare, all our numbers, DDIs, the lot,
without any hassles.

The boss finds it terribly boring now as my rants at BT for their
uselessness were legendary.
