Update #0: 2010-02-08 21:28 GMT

Reports from customers this evening are of a huge improvement, maxing
out downloads even on 20CN lines.

We were somewhat concerned over congestion last week, and particularly
reports of slow speeds by customers. We have taken steps to increase
capacity in links we have to BT anyway and are still considering more
if necessary. We do think there must have been some more general issues
from unusually high traffic in the the internet as a whole.

It is our plan to ensure we are not the bottleneck and so to provide an
un-congested service. We continue to work closely with BT to minimise
congestion in their network which has improved greatly over the last
two months.

Not entirely sure what we are expected to see from this.

I'm only a low user anyway so it doesn't affect me particularly.

At this time of day I get over 7 Mb/s, generally in the evenings it drops to
somewhere around 1.2Mb/s, later on last night I got 2.7. Are these expected
figures?

I'm out in the sticks in Suffolk (01842) so a long way from Faraday and no
idea what's between here and there

Obviously BT is getting old and like me has taken to an evening nap .

I haven't noticed many general issues but there do seem to have been
occasions when one particular website or three have been excessively
slow, whereas another has been running at normal speed: from here it
looks like localised slowdowns and congested routes have become more
widespread.

But then what do I know, I never yet got around to upgrading to Max,
my vintage 2Mb line and Solwise SAR 715 have done the business for
many years. Perhaps when I drag myself into the 21st century these
things will start to show up.
