Has anyone with Sky TV tried this? I did today - recorded two films remotely
via my computer to save and watch on my TV set whenever it suits me - works
a treat. Ain't technology wonderful :D

Tried it? I don't even understand how you did it hehe. I can take a
computer to bits, strip it down and reassemble but I can barely manage to
change channels on the remote for the tv (mainly cos I don't watch it
enough to be bothered to learn how).

Very clever though, I hope you enjoy the films. :-)

Never used it 'cos I've never needed to and I don't think it would jbex for
me 'cos I don't have a telephone plugged in. If you want to try it it looks
easy enough http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skyco...s/remoterecord

I was looking at those in Morrison's. I couldn't carry it at the time but it
looked a good buy.

The one I got was the Neon 24" Full HD ready. We won't have HD available
here on freeview 'til next year but I'm ready now for when they do. The
picture is already much sharper than it was on my old Philips 19" crt set.
Oh! And although I don't use DVD atm it has a DVD player integrated into
the set. As usual, the manuals aren't very good so you have to play
around a fair bit to see what functions are available. I think I have it
sorted out now and currently can get BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4 and
Channel 5 on both old analogue and new digital (freeview). I'm not sure
there are many of the other 100+ freeview channels it has tuned in to that I
will take advantage of and was disappointed to find that *Gold* had to be
subscribed to (shock horror more money :( ), but then I have Sky on my
main set in the lounge. This exercise is also acting as a precursor to
replacing my main rental set (over 5 years old now) later on this year,
again for the digital switchover. That main set is pretty heavy, and who
knows, when I've changed it for a much lighter LCD set I might even be able
to do some hoovering under and behind the TV stand. :) Oh gosh! That extra
loading will probably mean a new Dyson soon. More expense :(

Wallet warning, you'll need a new Freeview HD set top box to receive
the HD service when it arrives, FN.

Yebbut don't forget you'll still need a set top box.

I would expect it would be.

I had no idea until the Freeview update last year ( I think) there were so
many channels I'd never heard of. Including I noticed Rabbit :-)

I discovered that a couple of years ago when I saw some programme advertised
as being on Gold. I didn't want it that much and I don't think I'd ever want
old programmes enough to pay for them.

I didn't think there were any companies renting sets now, haven't seen one
for years. I liked the idea of rental sets at one time as the technology
changed so quickly.

Part of an annual ritual in some cultures, known as "Spring Cleaning", in
which all furniture is moved about and much dust is disturbed.

I don't use a box Ken, the freeview tuner is integrated into the TV.
Apparently there is a major reset due on the 17th March in readiness for
our local transmitter going HD.

Even after the major resets they are transmitting in the near future. One
is scheduled here for 17th March.

That used to be available on Sky some time ago, but not anymore it seems.
I just thought it was your fame that was spreading. :)

I;ve rented from this company since my first colour set back in the 1970s
when they were Rumbelows, then taken over by Radio rentals and now
Boxclever. [url down]

It's something I once heard but never actually come to grips with it either.
